Connecting Claude.ai to Mandatum

This guide covers connecting the Claude.ai web interface (claude.ai) to your Mandatum legal research data using the one-click MCP integration.

Audience: Non-technical users with a Mandatum account and a Claude.ai account (any paid plan).

What this does #

Once connected, you can ask Claude.ai questions about statutes and legislation in your organization's Mandatum corpus. Claude will retrieve information directly from Mandatum when answering your queries.

Prerequisites #

• A Mandatum account with an active organization
• A Claude.ai account (Pro, Team, or Enterprise plan — the MCP connector is available on paid plans)
• You must be logged in to both Mandatum and Claude.ai in the same browser

Step-by-step instructions #

1. Open Claude.ai Settings #

1. Go to claude.ai and sign in.
2. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner.
3. Select Settings from the dropdown menu.

2. Find the Integrations section #

1. In the Settings sidebar, click Integrations.
2. Look for the section labeled Connected apps or MCP Servers.

3. Add Mandatum as an integration #

1. Click Add integration or the + button.
2. In the search field or URL field, enter your Mandatum instance URL:

   (Replace mandatum.intergentech.ai with your organization's Mandatum URL if different.)
3. Claude.ai will fetch Mandatum's metadata and show the integration name Mandatum.
4. Click Connect or Authorize.

4. Authorize Mandatum access #

1. A browser window will open showing Mandatum's Authorization page.
2. The consent screen lists the scopes Claude.ai asks for. Each scope unlocks specific tools; the tool catalogue lists which. Statute search and section lookup need the statute scopes, and citation checks need citation:verify.
3. Review the scopes. Access is read-only, and you can revoke it at any time.
4. Click Grant access.
5. You will be redirected back to Claude.ai.

5. Confirm the connection #

1. In Claude.ai Settings → Integrations, you should now see Mandatum listed as a connected app.
2. The connection is active. You can close Settings.

Using the integration #

In any Claude.ai conversation, you can now ask questions like:

• "Search Mandatum for statutes related to environmental permits"
• "Get section 15 of the Environmental Management Act from Mandatum"

Claude will automatically use the Mandatum tools when relevant.

Revoking access #

To disconnect Claude.ai from Mandatum:

In Claude.ai: Settings → Integrations → find Mandatum → click Disconnect or Remove.

In Mandatum: on the workspace's API keys page, find the Claude.ai connection under Connected apps and click Revoke.

Either action immediately invalidates the access token. Claude.ai will not be able to access your data after revocation.

Troubleshooting #

"Authorization failed" or redirect errors: Make sure you are logged in to Mandatum before clicking Connect in Claude.ai. The authorization page requires an active Mandatum session.

"Integration not available": The MCP connector requires a paid Claude.ai plan. Check that your account is on Pro, Team, or Enterprise.

"Permission denied" when Claude retrieves data: Your Mandatum organization may have corpus-level access controls. Contact your Mandatum administrator.
